Fifth grade is an exciting year of growth, leadership, and discovery, and Ms. Westwood and Mr. Carr are ready to help students make the most of every opportunity.
Students will strengthen their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics while taking on more complex concepts. In math, fifth graders will build fluency with fractions and decimals, explore volume, and apply problem-solving strategies to real-world situations.
Science learning will focus on Earth's systems, ecosystems, matter, and engineering challenges, giving students opportunities to investigate, experiment, and think like scientists.
In social studies, students will explore fascinating civilizations, major historical events, geography, and cultures from around the world. Through research projects, discussions, and writing activities, students will learn to analyze information, support their ideas with evidence, and communicate their thinking clearly.
Fifth grade is often a year when students develop greater confidence, independence, and responsibility in their learning. Ms. Westwood and Mr. Carr are excited to support students as they grow academically, socially, and personally throughout the year.
