At Wasatch Elementary, the fourth-grade team is gearing up for an exciting and enriching school year. Under the guidance of Mr. Matt and Ms. Hinojosa, students will dive into a wide range of engaging topics that will spark curiosity and build essential skills. In language arts, students will begin the year by crafting personal narratives, learning to express their own stories with clarity and creativity. As the year progresses, they’ll explore the fascinating world of medieval empires, dive into the rhythm and meaning of poetry, and take on the role of young inventors in a unit that encourages innovation and problem-solving. They'll also dig deep into the layers of the Earth in a geology unit, analyze contemporary fiction, and journey through the pivotal events of the American Revolution. To cap off the year, students will embark on a literary adventure with Treasure Island, developing their comprehension and critical thinking skills through classic storytelling.
Beyond these core units, fourth graders will strengthen their reading, writing, and speaking abilities, learning to collaborate, evaluate information, and adapt their communication to different contexts. In math, they’ll focus on multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, and place value, while science lessons will explore energy, wave patterns, organisms, and the sky. Social studies will help students build geographic literacy, historical thinking, civic awareness, and economic understanding. They'll also enjoy a well-rounded education with opportunities in music, visual arts, dance, drama, physical education, and technology, including keyboarding and computer science fundamentals.
Fourth graders at Wasatch Elementary are truly lucky to have teachers like Mr. Matt and Ms. Hinojosa, who bring passion, creativity, and dedication to the classroom every day. With such a dynamic team leading the way, it’s bound to be a year full of discovery and growth.
